Micky van de Ven produced a moment of magic as he scored a sensational solo goal against Copenhagen in the Champions League.

Spurs returned to winning ways following back-to-back defeats, including a bruising 1-0 home defeat to Chelsea, by destroying Copenhagen on Tuesday.

They beat the Danish outfit 4-0 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, with Van de Ven, who snubbed Thomas Frank following their defeat to Chelsea, scoring a goal of the season contender.

He picked up a loose ball on the edge of his own box then ran the full length of the pitch before smashing home past Dominik Kotarski to score his side's third goal.

Van de Ven went on one of his trademark runs, beating four Copenhagen players en route to scoring arguably the best goal of his career and a goal that will be a contender for the competition's goal of the season.

On his goal, Van de Ven said: "I started dribbling and thought I thought that I would see if they would catch up and they didn’t.

"I am feeling good, and I felt amazing in the sprint, I felt like I could keep going. [Cristian] Romero stayed calm as well [for Joao Palhinha goal] when I saw him in front I wondered why he was there.

"When we got the red card I thought it was going to be tough but we stayed cool, we did what we needed to do and we killed the game off."

Brennan Johnson, who was later dismissed, Wilson Odobert and João Palhinha also got on the scoresheet.

Van de Ven's strike comes just days after he snubbed Frank after the final whistle against Chelsea.

The Dutch defender and Djed Spence ignored their head coach on Sunday but apologised ahead of tonight's European fixture.

Speaking before his side's game against Copenhagen, Frank said: "Micky and Djed came into my office yesterday and just said they wanted to say sorry for the situation. They didn't want it to look bad or disrespectful.

"That was not their intention to me, the team or the club. They were just frustrated by the performance, loss and the booing during the game."

Spurs, meanwhile, move into seventh place, with eight points on the board.

They return to action on Saturday when they resume their Premier League campaign against Manchester United.
